Golden Opportunity Event

Four years ago, Superintendent Powell was approached by local business owner Stephen Foster Jr. of Fresno Coin Gallery with a creative win-win idea. Stephen’s business was enjoying great success and knowing the prolonged economic downturn was having a dramatic effect on public education –his family felt it important to give back to Fresno County schools. As a result, the annual Gold Buying Event was born, which has for the past four years engaged the community in supporting school programs in the areas of Academics, Athletics, Agriculture and the Arts. For the month of March, The Fresno Coin Gallery paid their customers top prices for their gold jewelry, and donated 10% on top of that to The Foundation @ FCOE to support such student programs as the Academic Decathlon, Mock Trial, Fresno Youth Choir.

To date, the Fresno Coin Gallery has donated over $300,000 to support student success. The generous donations from the Fresno Coin Gallery have allowed us to protect exemplary programs for students, and in some cases even grow new ones. Beneficiaries of this fundraising event have also included all county Future Farmers of America programs and numerous high school athletic programs. The Foundation @ FCOE was established in 2009 for the sole purpose of supporting student success in Fresno County schools. For four years in a row now, Fresno Coin Gallery has demonstrated how easy it is to share this important responsibility.

Thank you, Fresno Coin Gallery!
