The Calming Corners project at Alvina Elementary gave students the opportunity to stay in the classroom while using helpful resources and strategies to self-regulate emotions.

The Calming Corners project at Alvina Elementary gave students the opportunity to stay in the classroom while using helpful resources and strategies to self-regulate emotions. Resources include calm breathing cards, fidgets like squish balls, liquid motion bubblers and weighted lap pads. The resources meet the different sensory needs of students so they can self-regulate with resources that they feel comfortable with. Teachers allowed students to experience the calming corners while observing the rules for their use, including time management.
