Award for Agriculture

Mark Thompson served for 50 years as a chattel appraiser at Fresno Madera Farm Credit Union, specializing in non-real estate assets. In 2016, he was nationally recognized through the Farm Credit 100 Fresh Perspectives, a program designed to identify and honor 100 leaders who are helping to shape the future of rural communities and agriculture. Mr. Thompson is dedicated to ensuring that Fresno County youth understand the importance and value of agriculture education by promoting the opportunities available in the agriculture sector. He is actively involved with the Fresno Farm Bureau, the Junior Livestock Auction Committee at the Big Fresno Fair, three committees at Reedley Community College, the Clovis Rodeo Association, the Fresno-Kings Cattlemen’s Association, and the Champions Club. In 2015, he established the All-Around Ag Award, known as “The Toolbox Program,” at the Big Fresno Fair. The program provides 4-H and FFA students ages 10 to 18 with a toolbox of tools. Additionally, Mr. Thompson initiated a healthy breakfast program for 2,000 students participating in the fair during its two-week run.
