$10,000 Gift to Scout Island Outdoor Education Center
The Bonner Family Foundation made a generous $10,000 gift to the Scout Island Outdoor Education Center. The Scout Island Outdoor Education Center is located along the San Joaquin Riverwith within Fresno City limits. Scout Island provides outdoor educational experiences for students throughout the eighty-five acres of invaluable habitat for native wildlife and riverside vegetation.
The high-quality, multi-grade level environmental education opportunities expose participants to many valuable resources of the preserved natural area. Year-round field trips are offered to explore the San Joaquin River Watershed, local geology, flora, fauna, and the cultural history in the riparian corridor of our river. At Scout Island, learners experience nature through hands-on activities specifically designed to meet California Education Standards and to enhance your school’s curriculum. Scout Island operates under the direction of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools.
