April Superintendent's Superstar
While at Mendota High School, she has maximized her potential by taking Honors and AP classes and being part of the Ag Science and Technology Dual Credit pathway, which she completed. She will earn her AS in Ag Tech, 65.5 college units. Sandra was selected to serve as the student representative for the Mendota Unified Board of Trustees, where she advocates for the students at Mendota High School and reports to the Trustees about the events taking place. Sandra is active in multiple clubs and organizations outside the academic realm. She participates in the NAMI club, Pre Med, Junior Statesmen of America and Fusion Club.
Her passion comes out when working with animals. Sandra has been involved in FFA for all four years. She raised a lamb and a rabbit for show at the fair and is part of the Spanish Creed Competitive Team. Her crowning achievement for FFA was recently earning the highest FFA award for the State of California, the State Degree. Off-campus, Sandra can be found working to support the less fortunate at the Fresno Rescue Mission, selling papers for Kids Day or providing clothing through the Warm Hands Warm Hearts Club.
The Superintendent’s Superstar program recognizes a student every month at the Board of Education meeting and thanks to the generosity of Matty Matoian each Superstar receives a $500 award to support one of their special causes or charitable projects.
