Best Buddies Club
Madison Elementary launched its first-ever Best Buddies Club, a student-led initiative designed to foster meaningful friendships, inclusion, and mutual understanding between upper-grade general education students and their peers in special education. This important program provided opportunities for students to build relationships through shared activities, teamwork, and regular meetups that emphasized kindness, empathy, and belonging.
With support from the Innovation Grant, the school was able to purchase matching T-shirts to promote a sense of unity, along with craft supplies and 12 robotic kits that were instrumental in creating fun, hands-on learning experiences for all participants. These tools not only enhanced student engagement but also helped bridge social and academic connections across classrooms. The success of this initiative has laid the groundwork for a more inclusive and connected school community at Madison Elementary.
