Bringing History to Life

The Bringing History to Life project at Orange Cove High School brought life to the content students were learning in Chicano and Latin American History and Government/Economics with a storage chest of history-inspired aesthetics, including a variety of costumes and accessories (i.e. Lincoln’s hat, shawl).

These items were used by students taking on the persona of historical figures involved in the U.S.- Mexico War. Each student was assigned a historical figure with a description of their background and their perspectives on the U.S.-Mexico War. They also participated in a re-enactment of the California desegregation case, Mendez v. Westminster.
