Condor Genetics and a Night in the Park Field Trip

Firebaugh High School students took a trip of a lifetime to the San Diego Safari Park Zoo, Roar and Snore Experience. Students toured the zoo to observe the animals, including tigers, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and rhinos. They had the extraordinary experience of seeing the only platypus in the world outside of Australia.

They spent the night in the Safari Park at the Roar and Snore Experience with a behind the scenes guide and they hung out in the butterfly exhibit, some of the butterflies landed on the students, which was a big hit.  Students also toured the safari and experienced the savanna at night. Other highlights of the trip included watching the cheetah run full speed, meeting an owl up close, and participating in a hands-on lab experience with the Condor DNA Genetics Lab.  Students also received a special tour of the Safari Parks vet hospital with the opportunity to ask questions about their careers and everyday lives.
