Learning Through Seeing
Through the innovative classroom project, Learning Through Seeing, students at Washington Colony experienced Medieval Europe like never before, using advanced virtual reality (VR) technology to explore historical sites and life in medieval towns. With support from educational and technology experts, the project successfully integrated VR into the curriculum, allowing students to immerse themselves in the architecture, culture, and daily routines of the era.
Using the experience as a springboard, students wrote creative narratives about “A Day in the Life” of individuals from that time period. The engaging, hands-on approach brought history to life in a way that captivated students and deepened their understanding. The project fostered creativity, curiosity, and excitement, showing how innovative tools like VR can enhance traditional learning in powerful ways.
