Multisensory Reading Tools
This project helped create a classroom at Lincoln Elementary in the Kings Canyon Unified School District where all students felt seen, valued, and represented. Multicultural and bilingual books were made available in the classroom library so students could see their languages, cultures, and experiences reflected in what they read.
This project helped create a classroom at Lincoln Elementary in the Kings Canyon Unified School District where all students felt seen, valued, and represented. Multicultural and bilingual books were made available in the classroom library so students could see their languages, cultures, and experiences reflected in what they read. Students were encouraged to borrow books and take them home to read with their parents and families, supporting stronger reading skills, vocabulary development, and family engagement. In addition, letter manipulatives such as magnetic letters and letter tiles were used during phonics activities to make learning more hands-on and engaging. These materials helped students practice letter sounds, build words, and strengthen early reading skills in an interactive way. Overall, the project supported literacy development while fostering a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment for all students.
