With the generous support of the Innovation Grant, Mendota Junior High School successfully transformed its campus garden into a dynamic, hands-on living laboratory. The project modernized the agricultural space by upgrading infrastructure, establishing a resilient irrigation system, and creating a safe, productive environment for year-round cultivation. Funding was also used to purchase agricultural tools, soil amendments, diverse vegetable seeds, and scientific monitoring equipment such as soil moisture and pH meters to support data-driven learning. Through this initiative, students stepped into the role of agricultural scientists as they planted, monitored, and harvested a variety of crops. The garden became an experiential learning space that connected plant science and sustainable agriculture to real-world practice. Students ultimately brought home their harvested produce to share with their families, linking classroom learning to community wellness and healthy living.
