Building on the strong partnership between the DNA Community School and the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, this project sought to build a greenhouse on the DNA Core Conditions Group Home site. The primary goals of the project included development of lessons aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), construction of the greenhouse on the DNA Core Conditions Group Home through partnership with Lowe’s Home Improvement, the continued support of the Scout Island reforestation project, and the production of fresh plants and produce for the other DNA Group Homes. The lesson planning is ongoing and has been the catalyst for developing additional community partners. Currently lessons include seed propagation, germination, biomes, and engineering climate control.
